Jesus’ resurrection which we celebrate at Easter is the single most important event in all of history. The very definition of what it means to be a Christian is our belief in His resurrection. But just as importantly, Christians must understand that the reason Jesus was born into human flesh in the first place was to die on the cross in our place to take upon Himself God’s righteous judgment of death for our sins. Jesus’ resurrection demonstrates His power and victory over death and His invitation for us to join Him in resurrection out of death into eternal life together with Him through faith in His Gospel. Furthermore, Christians believe with eager anticipation Jesus’ promise to return one day to rule and reign eternally over all creation.

What do we mean when we refer to salvation, or to being saved? It means you have been rescued from the inevitable results of living in your sin. It means death is not permanent. It means, because of Jesus and His work on the cross of sacrifice, in the tomb of victory, and through the hope of a heavenly future, you do not have to go to hell.

Only Jesus can do the signs and wonders that He has done and still continues to do. But He also uses His children to do our part in accomplishing His works through those things we can do by faith and obedience to His will.

Easter is not about peeps, colored eggs, or some cute little over dressed bunny. Instead, Easter is all about the risen Savior. The resurrection of Jesus brings us hope, forgiveness, redemption, and an eternal guarantee. If you belong to Jesus, you don’t have to fear anything! What’s the worst thing that could happen to you? You could die, and then you get to go to heaven! Jesus brings us life, eternal life, life to the fullest, life that begins the moment we believe and continues into all eternity. Do you have that assurance? Do you know that you know you belong to God?
