This is a re-recording of the message shared with the adults at our 2023 VBS. Our children are continually beset by a lying attack from our great enemy Satan. As parents, we have a duty to defend our children against these attacks by providing them a solid foundation of Biblical Truth by which they can fight against the lies of the enemy.

We need to look at salvation and what it really means for the person who chooses God over self. Our salvation has more to do with Him than it does with who we are. Yes, we are special and the greatest of His creation, but our salvation demonstrates the mercy and grace of a loving God.

When we pause to consider the condition of the world we live in, it’s extremely difficult to envision the things of this world as being part of God’s Kingdom. Our only hope is that people will put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. In the meantime, we wait patiently on the coming of our Lord. Till this day comes, the Kingdom of God exists within the hearts and lives of those who love Him.

Very few people outside the original nation of Israel find great joy in reading through the genealogical lists found in Scripture. Genealogies are usually cumbersome and seem to serve as place holders in Scripture. Therefore, most people just skip over these lengthy lists of names hoping to get directly to “the good stuff”. However, Matthew’s list in the beginning of his Gospel account gives us insight into the true background of Jesus, the Messiah. While Jesus is perfect in every way, his past descendants were far from it. God used Matthew to show us, through Jesus’ lineage, how powerful His saving grace truly is.

On Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. And now we wait, just like the disciples did, for what would come next. We wait for the opportunity to celebrate and shout praises on Sunday morning about our risen King, our risen Savior! We wait so that we can shout to the world that Jesus is Alive!

Palm Sunday is a great time to be reminded about Jesus Christ and His role in our salvation. It’s also a great time to be reminded that Jesus will come again one day soon. The King is Coming! He is the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for sinners, who triumphed over death through an empty tomb, and who now reigns in glory as the King of heaven and earth. Will you open your heart and let the King come in?

Every person operates with a “mission statement”. Some realize this and embrace it. Others spend most of their lives not knowing what it is that truly motivates them. A mission statement allows the world around us to see who it is we are behind the curtain. At MFBC, our purpose is found in our mission statement. The challenge becomes whether or not we truly embody its words.
