Jesus taught two more parables concerning stewardship – one about a landowner who left his land in care of others until the time of harvest and anther about a man who had two sons, one of whom said he would obey his father but did not while the other said he would not obey, but in the end actually did his father’s will. Clearly the men in these parables symbolize God while the other characters in the stories represent the priests and scribes to whom God had entrusted the care of His people Israel.

A committed servant of Jesus must be available, humble, obedient, faithful, and enduring. The truth is, no matter our capacity, or our talents, or our giftedness, when it comes to the service opportunities appointed to us through Jesus, complete faithfulness is required.

Tonight, we look at Peter’s confession of Jesus as the Christ, the first time Jesus predicts His coming death and resurrection, and Jesus’ powerful teaching about denying self.

None of us are perfect and all of us need God’s power to help us make it in this world. The holy ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are two of the greatest gifts given to us directly from Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Baptism allows the believer the opportunity to announce to the world that they have given their heart and control of their life to Jesus. It symbolizes death to self, burial into Jesus Christ, and resurrection into a new life. Participation in the Lord’s Supper helps us proclaim the death of Christ as necessary for our salvation and proclaim our anticipation for His eventual return. Participation in the Lord’s Supper requires us to be in right relationship with Jesus and unifies the bride of Christ, His Church, together around the supper table of the Lord.

Jeremiah’s story provides us with a picture of how Jesus’ ministry would unfold. Not only was Jeremiah a prophet called by God to speak truth to His people, but he also served as a “type” of Christ that would help us learn and grow in the discipline of perseverance. People who persevere make the right choice, they stand by their convictions, they make sure their character remains intact, and they refuse to compromise on God’s truths.

Every believer understands the command by Jesus to “Go therefore and make disciples”, but very few strive to make evangelism part of their daily lives. When we allow our hearts to be in tune with our Savior’s, evangelism then becomes something which will flow from our mouths and our actions more naturally. It is the duty and privilege of every Jesus follower to set their life on a course which helps fulfill this great command from Jesus. Lives are at stake, and we must train ourselves for the work of an evangelist, whether we want to or not.

Easter is not about peeps, colored eggs, or some cute little over dressed bunny. Instead, Easter is all about the risen Savior. The resurrection of Jesus brings us hope, forgiveness, redemption, and an eternal guarantee. If you belong to Jesus, you don’t have to fear anything! What’s the worst thing that could happen to you? You could die, and then you get to go to heaven! Jesus brings us life, eternal life, life to the fullest, life that begins the moment we believe and continues into all eternity. Do you have that assurance? Do you know that you know you belong to God?

On Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. And now we wait, just like the disciples did, for what would come next. We wait for the opportunity to celebrate and shout praises on Sunday morning about our risen King, our risen Savior! We wait so that we can shout to the world that Jesus is Alive!

There is nothing more special than to know and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is when we willingly obey the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives that God can use us for the purposes of His Kingdom. Our role includes a full commitment to trusting His ways over our ways. When we do this, then and only then will we produce and experience the harvesting of His fruits in our lives. We will continually taste love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, and those around us will see Jesus Christ on full display.

We are blessed with a unique relationship with God’s Spirit. He is fully God and is an additional gift we receive at the moment of our genuine conversion. The Bible informs us that He, The Holy Spirit, comes to dwell in our hearts. He arrives and takes up a permanent residence with us and serves as our helper and guide as we walk through this world as followers of Jesus Christ. Considering the many challenges, we face; a helper is definitely needed. The Holy Spirit moves into our lives, and once He moves in, He’s not moving out! Praise God, He’s here to stay!
